Nightlife Safety
-
Rodney Bay Village and Gros Islet are where you'll find the nightlife, established, well-lit, with tourist infrastructure already in place. Wandering into unfamiliar parts of Castries or rural areas at night carries real risk.
-
The Friday Night Jump-Up draws big crowds, pickpockets work the crush. Leave expensive jewelry at the hotel, carry only the cash you plan to spend, and keep your phone in a front pocket.
-
Drive back to your south-coast place after Rodney Bay nights? Budget extra time. Those mountain switchbacks between north and south twist hard enough sober, add rum and they're outright deadly.
Mountain Climbing
This hike is not promoted by any tour companies in St. Lucia so you need to find a local to lead you up. This is an "at your own risk" endeavor, and requires a good amount of upper body strength.
